The Gulf Bank was established pursuant to the Amiri Decree No 44 in the year 1960, with a capital fo 24 MM Rupees equivalent to KD 1.8MM.

The capital increased over the years upto KD. 78,177,005/- and staff amounted to 645 employees as at 31.12.1996.
